PlayOn works with a variety of devices to deliver content from the Internet to your TV!

Own one of the devices listed below? Then you have the right companion for PlayOn! Once PlayOn is on your PC, just browse to the PlayOn media server from your device, and you'll be watching internet content on your TV, smartphone, or tablet before you know it!

PlayOn works on the following devices.

Click view setup instructions to see how to use PlayOn with your device. Devices capable of streaming with PlayOn HD are indicated below.

    Gaming Consoles
  • PlayStation 3 HD capable - view setup instructions  |  view demo
    1. After you have installed PlayOn on your PC, be sure to start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings if it is not already running.
    2. The PlayOn Server can be found under the XrossMediaBar > Video. Make sure Media Server Connection is enabled under Settings > Network Settings.
    3. Make sure you have the latest system update installed on your PS3.
    4. Make sure your PS3 has a network connection to the same home network router that your PlayOn PC is connected to.
  • PlayStation 4 HD capable - view setup instructions
    1. Open the PS4's web browser (the WWW app icon).
    2. Press the Triangle button to open the search bar.
    3. Press the left arrow button to move over to the address bar.
    4. Press the X button to open the keyboard.
    5. Delete anything already in the address bar and then type: m.playon.tv
    6. Once the PlayOn web app has loaded, you'll see your servers listed. Use the Left stick to move the mouse and select your server with X.
    7. Finally, use the Square button to open the PlayOn browser window in fullscreen mode.

    You will now see a list of categories and channels. You can start using the up and down arrow buttons to highlight channels and videos and X to select. The left and right arrow buttons will move you back and forward between pages.

    Here's a tip: To make it easier to visit PlayOn each time you open the browser, create a bookmark for m.playon.tv. When you browse to m.playon.tv, use the Option button to open the browser's options. Select Add Bookmark to bookmark the page. Make sure the address for the bookmark is "m.playon.tv" and save it. You can access your bookmarks with the R2 shoulder button.

  • Wii - view setup instructions  |  view demo
    1. After you have installed PlayOn on your PC, be sure to start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings if it is not already running.
    2. Go to your Wii gaming console, and be sure you have the Internet Channel, available on the Wii Shopping Channel if you don't already have it.
    3. Once the Internet Channel is active use your Wii to navigate to wii.playon.tv and you are ready to begin streaming content.

    Here's a tip: Save it as a Favorite for easy access in the future. Just click on the Favorites button (star) of the browser's onscreen tool bar. Click on the Add Favorite icon along the bottom. "Wii.playon.tv" will now be added to your Favorites.

  • Wii U HD capable - view setup instructions
    1. Use your Wii U GamePad to open the internet browser by tapping the blue globe icon at the bottom of the screen (in the middle).
    2. Tap the address bar at the top and browse to: wii.playon.tv
    3. If you can't see the browser on your TV, tap the X button to toggle the TV display back on.
    4. From here you can browse the giant library of video content that PlayOn has to offer. So sit back, relax and enjoy!

    Here are some tips for the Wii U:

    • Save PlayOn as a bookmark for easy access in the future. Just press the Y button on the GamePad and tap Add PlayOn. You can edit the bookmark by tapping the arrow to the right of your new PlayOn bookmark. Make sure it points to "wii.playon.tv". You can access your bookmarks by tapping your Mii in the corner or when you view the browser's launch screen (the one with the clock).
    • If you want to use your TV for something else, you can watch the video on the GamePad . Just turn-up the gamepad's speakers and turn-off the TV display by pressing the X button.

  • Xbox 360 HD capable - view setup instructions  |  view demo
    1. After you have installed PlayOn on your PC, be sure to start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings if it is not already running.
    2. You can find the PlayOn server(s) by searching under the Dashboard > Video > My Video Apps > Video Player.
    3. You must be in the Video section to view online videos. Note, the PlayOn Media Server(s) will appear in My Music Apps as well, but it will contain no online videos.
  • Xbox One - HD capable - view setup instructions
    1. Download and install the Xbox Video Player app on your Xbox One. This app is what will receive and play the videos.
    2. Once you have it installed, open the Xbox Video Player app. You don't have to leave it on your screen or snap it; it will remain running in the background.
    3. Finally, start the PlayOn server on your PC and find a video you want to stream to your Xbox One.
    You can use the PlayCast feature of the PlayOn browser extension and the PlayOn Mobile app to send videos to the Xbox One. When you find a video on your PC (through your web browser) you want to stream, click the PlayOn browser extension. When you are ready to watch it, click the PlayCast option to save your video and stream it. As long as the Xbox Video Player app is running on the Xbox One, your Xbox One will appear as an option for PlayCast. If you have an Android, iOS, or BlackBerry device, you can use the PlayOn Mobile app to browse videos available through PlayOn and stream from your PC to the Xbox One.


  • Streaming Devices
  • Chromecast HD capable - view setup instructions

    Cast videos to your TV from your web browser, mobile device or tablet. To send virtually any web video from a web browser on your PC to your Chromecast, just install the PlayOn Browser extension. To send videos from one of 60+ PlayOn channels from your mobile device or tablet to your ChromeCast, install the PlayOn Mobile app for your Android, iOS, or Blackberry device. The browser extension can be installed when you install PlayOn or installed later by visiting the PlayOn Settings Manager's Browsers tab. The PlayOn Mobile app is available for free from the Android, iOS, and BlackBerry app stores. 

    To get started, you will first need to start the PlayOn server on your PC by opening PlayOn Settings Manager and clicking the Start button. Make sure your Chromecast is plugged in when you start the PlayOn server, then follow the directions below.

    Casting a Video from PlayOn Mobile
    1. Open the PlayOn Mobile app on your phone or tablet and connect to your PlayOn server.
    2. Find then tap on the video you want to cast to your Chromecast.
    3. Tap the Play button.
    4. Select your Chromecast from the list that appears under the PlayTo menu.
    Casting a Web Video From your PC's Web Browser
    1. Browse to the web page with the video you wish to send to your Chromecast from a web browser with the PlayOn Browser extension installed.
    2. Click the PlayOn extension icon from your browser. A new window will launch with the video you have selected. Follow the instructions provided to continue.
    3. On the last step, click on the Cast to TV button along the bottom and choose your Chromecast from the list to cast the video to your TV.
  • Google TV HD capable - view setup instructions
    In order to use PlayOn on your Google TV:
    1. Download and install PlayOn on your PC
    2. Install the PlayOn Google TV app on your Google TV from the Play Store.
    3. Launch the Google TV app while you are on the same network as your PC running PlayOn and you should see the PlayOn screen.
    4. Click on the name of your computer to browse through all the available PlayOn channels.
  • OmniBox - view setup instructions

    Once you have successfully connected your OmniBox to your TV and followed the instructions to subscribe, you can set up PlayOn for OmniBox by taking the following steps:

    1. Download PlayOn and install it on your PC if you have not already done so. Once it's installed, open PlayOn Settings (Start / All Programs / PlayOn / PlayOn Settings), go to the Registration tab, and copy+paste the user name and license key information from your order confirmation email then click "Apply".
    2. Start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on "Start" under the General Settings tab in PlayOn Settings, if it is not already running.
    3. Go to your OmniBox , navigate to the PlayOn menu item and select your PlayOn PC -- this should be the same a the name of the PC that is running PlayOn.
    4. Now the fun part! Start enjoying premium live streaming and video-on-demand content with OmniBox powered by PlayOn. Be sure to visit the PlayOn Plugin Channel Store for additional channel options – they are all free to install!
  • Roku HD capable - view setup instructions

    In order to get the PlayOn channel on your Roku, go to https://owner.roku.com/Add/MYPLAYON and add the private channel code MYPLAYON. Follow the simple instructions that will be provided once the code is entered and that's all there is to it. Now sit back and enjoy PlayOn on your Roku!

  • Mobile Devices
  • Android phone HD capable - view setup instructions

    In order to use PlayOn on your Android 2.2, 2.3, or 3.0 devices, you will need to have both PlayOn installed and running on your PC and the Adobe Flash Player and PlayOn Mobile app, which is available as a free download from the Android market. You may choose to use the web app instead by browsing to m.playon.tv in the default Android web browser.

    Setting up PlayOn on your PC

    • Launch PlayOn from the Start Menu. Open PlayOn settings by double-clicking on the PlayOn icon in your task tray.
    • Next, in order to enable the use of PlayOn with your Android phone or device, click on the Mobile Access tab and check Enable Mobile Access.
    • Some PlayOn channels such as Netflix, Pandora, Hulu and more may require your credentials in order to view that content. To enter your credentials, select the Channels tab and add your information there.
    • Start the PlayOn Media Server by clicking on the Start button under the General Settings tab if you have not already done so.

    Setting up your Android device

    • Download the PlayOn Mobile app from the Android Market.
    • While PlayOn is running on your PC, open the app on your device. Make sure that you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
    • Next, you must "pair" your device with your PC. On the first screen of the app, you should see your copy of PlayOn listed — it will have the same name as your PC. Select your PC and a menu of PlayOn channels should appear. Now that your device is "paired" with your PlayOn PC, you should now be able to watch PlayOn anywhere, either over Wi-Fi or 3G/4G.
  • BlackBerry 10 Smartphones HD capable - view setup instructions

    In order to use PlayOn on a BlackBerry 10 device, you will need to have both PlayOn installed and running on your PC and the PlayOn Mobile app on your phone. The PlayOn Mobile app is available as a free download from BlackBerry World.

    • Once you have both the PlayOn media server installed (on your PC) and the mobile app installed on your mobile device, start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings if it is not already running.
    • Launch the mobile app on your phone while you are on the same network as the PC running PlayOn.
    • You should see the name of your PC appear on the start up screen on your phone. Select your PC on the mobile app and you will see a list of available PlayOn channels.
    • Next, take the following steps to "pair" your phone with the PlayOn server and activate the ability to watch PlayOn remotely over Wi-Fi or anywhere over 3G/4G.
      • Open up Playon settings on your PC, click on the Mobile Access tab, and check the box to Enable PlayOn Mobile Access.
      • Please be sure that your computer is not set to sleep. If your computer is sleeping you will not be able to access PlayOn.
      • You should now be able to automatically connect to your PC from other Wi-Fi networks, or even over 3G/4G.
  • iPad and iPhone HD capable - view setup instructions  |  view demo

    In order to use PlayOn on your iPhone or iPad, you will need to have both PlayOn installed and running on your PC and the PlayOn Mobile app which is is available as a free download from the iTunes store.

    • Once you have both the PlayOn media server installed (on your PC) and the mobile app installed (on your iPhone or iPad), start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings if it is not already running.
    • Launch the mobile app from your iPhone or iPad while you are on the same network as the PC running PlayOn.
    • You should see the name of your PC appear up on your iPad or iPhone. Select your PC and you will see a list of available PlayOn content channels.
    • Next, take the following steps to "pair" your iPhone or iPad with the PlayOn server and activate the ability to watch PlayOn remotely over Wi-Fi or anywhere over 3G/4G.
      • From the PlayOn PC selection home screen on your iPhone or iPad, select the Add a PlayOn PC Manually button, then click save.
      • Open up Playon settings on your PC, click on the Mobile Access tab, and check the box to Enable PlayOn Mobile Access.
      • Please be sure that your computer is not set to sleep. If your computer is sleeping you will not be able to access PlayOn.
      • You should now be able to automatically connect to your PC from other Wi-Fi networks, or even over 3G/4G.
  • Kindle Fire - view setup instructions
    First, you have to disable web browser acceleration:
    1. Tap the menu button within the Silk Browser.
    2. Tap Settings
    3. Toggle Accelerate Page Loading to off. You will need to scroll down a bit to find the option.

    Then, just go to m.playon.tv in your Silk browser while you're on the same network as your PlayOn PC. You'll see the PlayOn menus on your Kindle Fire. Once you have a first play you should be able to play videos from your PlayOn install even when you're on a remote Wi-Fi network. Once you watch a video on your home Wi-Fi, if you have Mobile Access enabled in PlayOn Settings, you should be able to play videos from PlayOn even when your Fire's on a remote Wi-Fi network.

  • Nook Color - view setup instructions

    In order to use PlayOn on your Nook Color, you will need to have both PlayOn installed and running on your PC and the PlayOn Mobile app which is is available as a free download from the The Nook Store.

    Once you have both the PlayOn media server installed (on your PC) and the app installed on your Nook Color:

    • Start PlayOn on your PC by clicking on Start under the General Settings tab in PlayOn settings.
    • Launch the Nook Color app while you are on the same network as your PC running PlayOn. You should see the name of your PC appear in the app.
    • Select your PC and you will see a list of available PlayOn content channels which you can navigate on your Nook Color.
    • Next, take the following steps to "pair" your Nook Color with the PlayOn server and activate the ability to watch PlayOn remotely over Wi-Fi.
    • On the PlayOn PC's home screen on your Nook Color, select the Add a PlayOn PC Manually button, then click save.
    • Open up Playon settings on your PC, click on the Mobile Access tab, and check the box to Enable PlayOn Mobile Access.
    • Please be sure that your computer is not set to sleep. If your computer is sleeping you will not be able to access PlayOn.
    • You can now automatically connect to your PC from any Wi-Fi network.


  • Set-Top Boxes
  • brite-View CinemaTube - view setup instructions

    Under the Video section of the CInemaTube menu, select the UPnP option. You will then see all of the UPnP-enabled devices and media servers available on your network. PlayOn will appear as "PlayOn (Your PC's Name)".
