PlayOn Announces PlayMark Beta, Adding the Ability to Watch Virtually Any Online Video on TV and Mobile Devices

One-click to play on TV or record any online video with simple browser extension and mobile app features

Seattle, WA – June 12, 2013 – PlayOn, the media server software from MediaMall Technologies that streams online videos to TVs and mobile devices, today announced the availability of the beta version of PlayMark, a browser extension that lets users quickly and easily tag online videos to either watch later on their TV or mobile device via PlayOn or play instantly on their TV. The PlayMark beta is available for all existing and new PlayOn and PlayLater users and is available for download in today’s software update. In combination with PlayMark, PlayOn introduced new two new app features - PlayTo and RecordTo. PlayTo and RecordTo turn iOS or Android devices into a remote control that lets users search or browse for videos on their phone and then instantly play them on their TV or set them to record in PlayLater for offline viewing.

The PlayMark browser extension works seamlessly with PlayOn and PlayLater. PlayMark allows users to easily bookmark almost any online video to watch on their TV, including videos that are on web-only sites like Funny or Die, Boing Boing and NESN.

“The idea behind PlayMark was a simple one – we wanted to make PlayOn even more comprehensive – enabling users to watch virtually any online video on their TV in a simple, seamless experience,” said Jeff Lawrence, CEO, MediaMall Technologies. “With just a few clicks you can send almost any video to your own private PlayOn channel and watch it from the comfort of your couch.”

PlayTo works with the PlayOn app for iOS and Android devices. The feature lets users select any show within the PlayOn app or PlayMark browser extension and send, with a single click of the “PlayTo” button, to a TV. PlayTo can stream to any DLNA device that is digital media renderer (DMR)-capable including Roku, Xbox 360, and many Google TV devices.

RecordTo works in a similar way, giving PlayLater users the ability to select shows via the PlayOn mobile app and record them. Users can then watch the recorded shows on their TV via the Roku, Xbox360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, Google TV, and any other PlayOn-compatible device or watch them on their mobile device or PC when an internet connection or reliable data connection may not be available.

“PlayTo and RecordTo essentially turn your mobile phone into a remote control for PlayOn, PlayLater and your TV. They provide the simplicity and convenience of accessing the content you want to watch from your phone and sending it to your TV in a simple user interface, ” said Lawrence.
