Does anyone else have the situation with Popular Websites where most of the channels are "This channel is under maintainance (sic) Will be back soon." The first 2 rows are fine but everything after that says this.
What is causing this? Every time I try watching something I get this message.
I'm about to rebuild my media server so I can better utilize MCE, but what I'm wondering is whether I can run both PlayOn and MCE on the same box. I've been running PlayOn in a virtual machine on Hyper-V, which mostly runs great (a tad slow on the loading, but nothing terrible) but now intend to run it on the native hardware.
My planned install is as follows:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
PlayOn
MCE
MS Security Essentials for Antivirus
On Hardware:
AMD Phenom X4 9600
4GB DDR2 memory
Geforce 7300 PCIe
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Jason
Is there a way to set up Hulu to run 480p videos on a DLNA compatible device (a samsung TV)
I've been using PlayOn with my EVA 9150 for some time. I am running the latest beta for the last few months without any problems until recently. Very recently, when I haven't used PlayOn for a while I will turn on the EVA and not see PlayON. I can stop and start PlayOn but it doesn't do any good. Powering down the EVA allows me to discover PlayOn again. If I then turn the EVA off and back on I can still see PlayOn.
Is anyone else seeing similar behavior?
Alan
I installed PlayOn on my Windows 7 Home Edition computer (64 bit) and have had no problems connecting the basic version to my Xbox 360. However, the PlayOn icon appears on my desktop with the Windows 7 "little blue and yellow security" shield in the bottom right corner. Windows asks me if I will allow the program to make changes to my computer. Which brings me to problem 1:
1.) Is there a way to allow PlayOn broader security access without having to turn down the security of my entire system? (I have of course, googled this, checked the FAQ, and fiddled with settings, but to no avail. There is only one account on this computer, so I can't imagine the problem is administrator vs. non-administrator, though there are other computers that access my network). The second related problem is:
2.) I have tried to install PlayOn lab plugins, but I get a message that says "access to path denied" (the path being the PlayOn plugin folder). This seems to be related to the general security issue, but I can't seem to put my finger on how to fix it.
Any help you could give me in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The Playon trial worked well for me on whatever extender or PC I used to view it with.
Now I have the license and everything seems to have stopped working.
If I try to view anything on Hulu for example, I select my show, then the buffer starts normally, however once it hits the 98-99% mark the screen starts flashing and flashing...
Sometimes the video will start after a period of flashing...Sometimes it won't.
Seems to do the same thing with everything I try to view Hulu or not.
I have tried a re-install, but that did not help.
Pretty much unusable as it is... Suggestions anyone?
I recently purchased Playon license(without testing it first, my bad) and now Playon does not stream to my XBMC or Patriot Box office(PBO).
-With the Playon running on my PC, i am able to find the playon in upnp device list in PBO/XBMC.
-I then see list of folders such as CNN, CBS, Youtube etc.
-Then when I select one of these folders such as CBS.
-Playlist files are displayed.
-Then when I select a video to play.
-The video buffers for 5 sec and returns back to the playlist without playing the video.
I tried playon on 3 different computers(xp,vista,win7), uninstalled all security software, changed my router, using wired connection - but still no video playback.
Playon support has been great so far in responding to the emails, but unable to find a solution. Here are the problems they identified from logs but no resolution yet:
1)Your PC seems to be transcoding the video just fine, but you're losing your connection to CBS before the video can begin. The two
possibilities are your internet connection is dropping in and out or
security software is causing it.
2)According to your logs, the PlayOn server is sending the files as mpeg, but we are unable to determine why the devices in question are rejecting them.
3)I've gone through your logs and one thing puzzles me. Your WAN dropped out completely for about 5 seconds. Like it wasn't even there.
Can anyone analyze above data and please give me some direction or pointers on how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.
-Sam
Hi guys,
I know you like all of your reports nice and tidy and done through the server. Sorry....reading around, I have serious doubt that would lead to either one of us getting satisfaction.
Here is the situation.
Playon is becoming almost unusable for me for one of two reasons - that I can tell.
First, there is nothing wrong with my network and my system is well above the minimum requirements. My upload bandwidth has not been taxed by playon either. In fact, I'm not here to complain about Playon per se. I also want to add that I am actually technically savvy (that doesn't mean I can't be wrong or that I know all).
What appears to be happening is my ISP (Cox) seems to be able to tell when playon is in operation and they choke me off - or, maybe the originating server. Seriously, my DL goes from over 2.0 to nearly nothing when trying to stream. I've tried to track down all I can - and all I get left with is my ISP or the originating server. When it was Hulu, I thought maybe it was them (Hulu), but this happens even with Netflix and Amazon VOD. The two latter, don't have the "issues" of the former (read that as you like).
I can actually watch the lights on my modem and router come to a crawl. Please make note of MODEM before you consider talking to me about my home network. My incoming pipe stalls.
And yet, I can DL a DVD version of Knoppix with no issue.
So, here is my question. Can you guys come up with ways to stealth Playon? Please? I don't even mind doing a work around if it works. It's really no one's business anyways. The transmission folk shouldn't be able to tell anything more than I am watching. It;s become obvious they know more than that. Watching on my monitor is seamless and the incoming stream is strong. But, if I use PO, the signal stalls.
Oddly, in an ironic twist, we are actually considering (well, we have decided really unless you folks have a solution) to cancel Cox cable and internet - not because we can watch TV and movies online and don't need them or something, - but because we can't watch TV and movies online. And, therefore, don't need them.
So, any ideas?
