Something sounds really off there (not just the audio.)
Two questions:
1) What PlayOn settings are you using? quality and process entire video specifically
2) Have you tried restarting the PC that runs PlayOn just to make sure things are "clean"?
to be clear. all they had me do was replace a file in the mediamall folder. i did not install this beta patch on page 6. this beta patch may do the same thing. i just want to be clear all i had to do was replace a file in the existing program. also, i have found in the past that reinstalling the program works better. and after the install to restart your computer.
My bad. I didn't reboot after the patch. I'm trying the same House episode again and it's working so far. Video is on auto and "process entire video" is unchecked.

Good, but make sure to watch at least one more show because as many of us have seen the first show after a reboot can sometimes work, but anything after that may have the sync problem.
i am in auto but i have process entire video checked. also if you open up your task manager and look at your network see if the processing over your network is uniform without major highs and lows.

It's interesting you bring that up (as you did a couple posts back) because in the past I did notice a lot of spiking in CPU usage. It would go from nearly nothing to about 50% over and over. Didn't seem like a healthy way to process a steady stream of data.
I installed the the PlayOnPatch.2.59.3594.exe posted earlier in this forum and repeated my earlier test (well, just the first one, with performance: auto, and Process entire video checked). I notice no sync issues with the patched version so far on the same video that was showing it on the pre-patched version.
I'll continue to use this version (until there's an official update) and note if I find any further issues, otherwise it looks like you guys fixed it - Congrats! :D
And thanks for being so interactive with the community - a lot of companies aren't that way and I think they suffer for it.
Just wanted to give a huge thumbs up on the patch! It worked beautifully here. Just watched 2 episodes of Stargate SG-1 (season 1 ep 6 + 7) with no issues at all.
As someone stated earlier, reboot after the patch. After the patch the sound and video were WAY off right from the start. Rebooting the computer + 360 solved the problem. FYI - Connecticut using Cox Communications cable, 10mb connection.
Patch 2.59.3594 (the Beta patch installer) seems to have fixed it for me. Good work PlayOn!
Note: Installing the DLL that was sent by email was another story. Even after restarting playon, whenever I tried to play a video from Hulu I got "Corrupted Data" errors on the PS3. When they did play, the screen would remain blank white, yet sound would play perfectly.

Hehe I just watched season 1 eps 11 + 12 :)
But both played with NO SYNC PROBLEMS!
I used the patch posted in this thread, not the DLL emailed to me. The patch would install, but crash after it said the install was complete. I shrugged that off and tried it anyway and it worked like a charm. I threw in some long pauses and some fast forwarding over commercials without any problems showing up.
Just wanted to say that I think they may have fixed it, or are really close to doing so. I updated my playon via the update button in the settings. It is version 2.59.3584.54 and I replaced the CR.dll file that was sent to me via email. I watched late night with JF, when I first did the update. I then watched Heroes,SOA, and Hells Kitchen a couple of hours after. All three were back to back and none had the audio sync issue. I had set the video quality to auto and unchecked the render all video. So I will test again see if there is any more sync issues and report back.
I tried with the new dll using the video that I had problems with before, and it was fine. Then I tried with the new patch above and the video was fine too. Then I run two other videos from the same serial and unfortunately for both I've had an unexpected "End of File" message between minutes 10 and 20. It happened both with Max and Auto settings, and before and after rebooting the computer and the DSM-520. I'll test it a bit more and report.
One thing that I noticed is that CPU is running much higher now, cycling and peaking around 50% or more every few seconds. Should not be causing the "End of File" problem, but who knows.
Testing the patch provided at the link posted by Admin earlier. Success so far. Episodes of Colbert Report and Daily Show that previously exhibited the sync issue are running without problem. Seeing steady low-moderate CPU usage on core 1, but seeing bursty high usage on core 2.
after receiving a response from the Playon support staff regarding the sync issue i submitted to playon i followed his detailed steps.
stop the playon server
download the beta dll
start serving playon
after these steps i loaded up my PS3 and went straight to Hulu/Channel/Drama/TV Episodes/Flash Forward/s1e4.
right at the start of the showing the audio was off by 1 second (audio was ahead of the video) and got worse in a hurry. before the first 15 minute break i was at a estimated 26 second video delay.
at this point i could go no further; watching it was painful.
so i shut down my PS3 and restarted my Playon serving PC. after the reboot was completely finished i restarted Playon and began serving. Turned on my PS3 and went back to the same episode of Flash Forward. no change at all (i am pretty sure after a reboot neither the serving pc nor the PS3 would store any of the episode).
So trying to be as thorough as i could be i decided to try a episode of House.....it was perfectly synced!! Excitedly i went back to Flash Forward and tried a differenct episode (s1e3) which was out of sync last week....and this one ran perfectly also, yay! however the original episode is still out of sync and i cannot seem to trigger it to refresh, even tell my PS3 to start over it is still out of sync.
anyway, i hope this information helps.
my suggestion to someone who is downloading the beta dll is to try watching something you really dont want to watch LOL because the next thing you watch will run perfectly =)
Update on the unexpected "End of File" error: I uninstalled patch "PlayOnPatch.2.59.3594.exe" that appeared above and reinstalled official version "PlayOnSetup.2.59.3584.exe." Then I replaced the original CR.dll file with the new debugged version provided by tech support. I set quality to "Max." Then it worked 100% fine! Didn't get sync problems in all three Hulu shows that I tried it with, and didn't get the "End of File" error too. I also noticed that although CPU usage is still high, with the official version and the fixed CR.dll file it runs steady around 50%-60%, while with the latest patch ("2.59.3594") it goes as high as 80% in cyclical bursts.
I'll send a ticket with this report to tech support.
Well, unfortunately I just got the "End of File" error with the changed setup described above, for one of the three Hulu shows. It looks to me like it has to do with CPU, since it was under heavy usage when the error happened.
Happened to me last night. I've been watching Dead Like Me with no issues, but last night I fired up an episode and by the third break the sync was off by a second or two. By the end of the episode it was off by 4-5 seconds.
I did not bother to send a support request...seems like a known issue anyway.

Was that with or without the patch provided yesterday?
I ran the patch, restarted my computer, but the problem doesn't appear to be fixed, though the voice syncing isn't off by as much as it was before, only a half-second or so by the end of the 45 minute long show. I'll watch another to see if it gets better/worse.
edit: on second thought, maybe that delay is across the whole video? Anyway, it's hardly noticeable unless I am looking for it (and I am), so it's definitely an improvement.
Well, I am using a P4 3.2Ghz with 4GB of RAM and WinXP SP3, and using my PlayStation 3 (wired) for PlayOn, and when using Hulu (watching Judgement Day, an episode of Outer Limits) I was experiencing the out of synch sound last night. I am testing the trail version of PlayOn (unregistered), just to check out Hulu videos.
Today I installed the patch in this thread, and restarted the app on the PC, then restarted it on the PS3, and watched the episode again today and it is playing fine now. :)
I have it set to "Auto" for Video Performance, and the "Always Process Entire Video" is unticked.
So far so good. Thanks for the patch! I might actually end up buying this in 14 days. :) As long as it keeps working on Hulu. ;)
I applied the patch tonight and audio issues now start at the beginning of an episode. Not only that, but it is worse than ever - 4 or 5 seconds.
I love PlayOn when it works. I do... but it's become a 50-50 proposition.
Edit: I did NOT restart my computer after the patch, so I will try again in the morning. The frustration is this: each time I think I finally have PlayOn working, it stops. LOL.
All I did was run the patch from page 6 (post 295) and restarted the app on both the PC and PS3 and all my sync issues are fixed, I have been watching different episodes of Outer Limits and Stargate SG-1 all day now, and I had not 1 problem with the out of sync issue.
For me, the problem has been fixed. Thank you for the patch.
This might help - I have not installed any patches, nor replaced any DLLs. Two days ago, we had a brief power outage that caused everything to boot up fresh, after which I watched two episodes of Greek on Hulu without any problems. Then, yesterday, I watched another episode and the sync problem was back. Nothing changed or happened in between those two shows, just elapsed time.
I restarted PlayOn again, problem still exists. I might try rebooting the PC too... but at this point, a daily reboot is not a valid workaround, if it even does work around the problem. I will try the patch, to see what happens...
Still haven't seen a single audio-sync issue since installing the patch. I have had several instances where the video stops working *if* I fast forward too much. It definitely doesn't like that. I'm willing to just let it play though and if I do that then I seem to have zero problems.
The patch made things way worse for me. 2 weeks ago I could watch anything on Hulu on High quality without any issues.
It started to fail 10 days ago or so and waited for a solution and finally received the patch... now it's worthless.
It works 'okay' on low quality, the audio syncs up 'better' but the video quality is garbage.
you might try uninstalling then reinstalling the program. just remember to copy your plugin file to your desktop first so you dont have to redo all your plugins. i have experienced in the past poor video quality after an update. doing this fixed it. hope it helps! for me, 2 days later and playon has been trouble free.

Whoa, a weird new bug, I was watching an episode of Fist of the North Star just now and the episode STARTED with the audio AHEAD of the video by a good ten seconds.
I installed the patch and restarted everything. Worked fine for the first three shows. Now it's about 10 seconds out of sync and starts at the very beginning of the show. Guys this needs to be fixed now, you're losing a lot of credibility.
Patch 2.59.3594 (the Beta patch installer) seems to have fixed it for me. Good work PlayOn!

I don't have the DLL but I did install the update and now I get the "data is corrupted" message every time.
with downloading the latest beta last night and adding in the emailed dll my troubles seemed worse off at first:
first video i watched did not sync up. i gave it about 10 minutes and the issue seemed to be getting worse. so i hit the stop button and started it again to no change. i then selected the video below with the and again stopped it short after the video started since it was displaying the same issue. at this time i went to another video and another until i found one that would be synced (sometimes i would have to go through multiple videos to get to this point) so i would stop the video there go back to my original video and everything would be fine
somewhere during my perfectly synced programming thanks to this process (which seemed to work 100% of the time) my system just stopped for no reason in the middle of a show. this happened, to my frustration, in three different episodes in three different catagories. no matter what i tried all of the shows that stopped would stop again at that very same point after trying to reload and having to rewatch them back to the same point.
Yep... I did the uninstall/reinstall and BANG! Data is Corrupted. No luck. This is getting ridiculous.
I think I have a theory though.
I noticed in another thread that PlayOn is build on IE7. I launched IE and noticed some similar Sync issues... not on everything, but definitely noticeable.
As my Netflix PS3 disc arrives tomorrow, Hulu is really the only reason for PlayOn and that apparently doesn't even work anymore... yay for $40 down the drain.
So I have had a ton of hulu sync issues in the last week or so. First I was having issues with the audio lagging the video, then I was having issues with the audio getting ahead of the video. So I downloaded the test patch, and now I cant even get a hulu video to play.
Any ideas when this issue is going to be resolved?
Just got an email from Customer Support regarding the recent Hulu not working at all:
We are aware of the Hulu issue you have reported and we are working towards resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience in the interim and appreciate your patience.
Hmm I may have just hit the new problem, too. It seems like suddenly I can't play any Hulu video including ones that worked just last night. I haven't changed anything - same settings, same versions of everything, but now Hulu doesn't work.
It's like the "fix" worked just long enough to make it failing all the more painful. I submitted a new support request... feels like we're back to the drawing board here.
Second test for me on the beta patch: I played an episode of House (S06E05) and within first 5 minutes the sync is of by over 5 seconds. I played this before the patch and it took 20 minutes to start getting skewed... :(

Folks I think we have a winner!
Hello all,
Just wanted to say that I think they may have fixed it, or are really close to doing so. I updated my playon via the update button in the settings. It is version 2.59.3584.54 and I replaced the CR.dll file that was sent to me via email. I watched late night with JF, when I first did the update. New .dll file has FIXED "The Daily Show" and "Colbert Report" for me. Rock ON!!!

Seems to be working great here. I only have replaced the DLL. Will update to the new version tomorrow.
Just in time too. My WDTV Live will be here Thursday.
Well, unfortunately I just got the "End of File" error with the changed setup described above, for one of the three Hulu shows. It looks to me like it has to do with CPU, since it was under heavy usage when the error happened.
Thank you!
I installed the replacement DLL sent via email, restarted, restarted the WD Live.
Everything I've played so far is in sync.
I sent the same info via the help request feature.
Are we supposed to do an update or wait until it arrives via the update notice?
Tech support suggested that the "End of File" error may be due to anti-virus or firewall, so I'm disabling them to see what happens.
Installed the patch update (not the .dll). Sync in Hulu seems to be fixed, but my Netflix has no audio.
Please reproduce the Netflix no-audio problem and send in a new support ticket.

I applied the patch suggested when clicking the support request button (is there another?) and restarted my computer.
The audio/video syncing problems begin at the beginning of a show now (I tested 2 shows).
I submitted a support request

Any ideas when this issue is going to be resolved?
Just got an email from Customer Support regarding the recent Hulu not working at all:
We are aware of the Hulu issue you have reported and we are working towards resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience in the interim and appreciate your patience.
Hulu now has totally quit. Is it possible that they are now causing the problem?
Hmm I may have just hit the new problem, too. It seems like suddenly I can't play any Hulu video including ones that worked just last night. I haven't changed anything - same settings, same versions of everything, but now Hulu doesn't work.
It's like the "fix" worked just long enough to make it failing all the more painful. I submitted a new support request... feels like we're back to the drawing board here.
Very frustrating.
