Failed installing Microsoft .NET framework 3.5

thats what it says when i try installing the framework 3.5, then it exits.

Did you try to install it manually from Microsoft's webpage?

I've tried installing Microsoft.NET 3.4 from both Playon download and Microsoft website. I get an error from both. When I loaded my new hard drive, it was already installed (wish I hadn't uninstalled). Any suggestions?
