Hulu has so many TV show choices that it can be overwhelming at times. So drumroll.......The most popular show of all time on Hulu is "Family Guy - Extra-Large Medium" from season 8. This kind of surprised me, but Family Guy dominates the most popular list by holding down the first five most popular episodes of all time. Some of the other reoccurring shows that make the most popular list are both "The Office" and "Glee."

Admittedly, as a big fan of Pandora, I always have it running on my laptop while I work. I am not super hip when it comes to the newest music. At this point in life, I just rely on Pandora to suggest music I might like. This past weekend was the first time I tried Pandora with PlayOn. I must admit it was quite impressive coming out of my surround sound.

If you don't know what Pandora is, let me begin be by saying you are late in the game. But better late than never. Pandora is based around customized radio stations. You can create different radio stations from a song or artist you like and Pandora will magically create a radio station with similar music. Oh and it is free for up to 40 hours a month.

Since PlayOn's latest update has support for the FIFA World Cup 2010 you have no excuse not to watch a few games. GQ recently did an article on how to speak soccer. While I follow The World Cup each year, I frequently get lost in the lingo. In the article they give 12 terms commonly used during The World Cup and I only knew one. Have you had a chance to see Hulu's new video player? 

Hulu has some new features including: adaptive bitrate streaming, seek hover preview, heat map, ad volume normalization and updated closed caption displays. I hate getting a screaming loud commercial in the middle of my show. So I love the idea of volume normalization. They also added an ad tailor in hopes to show users more relevant commercials. Do people ever watch the Hulu movies? Most everyone I know uses Hulu strictly for their TV shows. Once and awhile I even hear people diss the Hulu movies. There has to be masses of people out there that have already tried watching a bunch of Hulu movies and found some gems. Here is a top 10 list of popular Hulu movies. A month or two back I was sitting at my TV flipping through all 300 channels of my $120 cable bill and thought to myself, “This is 60% re-runs/junk, 20% infomercial, 10% news, 7% public service, 3% new content/stuff I actually want to watch.” Alright so maybe that’s not the exact dialog, but sadly pretty close. My DVR was packed full of movies I had watched 10 times and the 1 or 2 series I’d record each week. Somehow it just didn’t justify $1,500 a year. That’s a nice vacation…and I needed one.

Dave gave me a heads up on PlayOn. He had heard of it through a friend and had loaded it up on his PC. He was “completely impressed how easy it was to install and run on both my PC and 360” so I decided to give it a whirl.

Needless to say I was so impressed I canceled my cable the next day, literally. Now, going without cable isn’t for everyone. If you want to be up on the latest and greatest sitcoms and series that very night, it’s not going to cut it for you. However, I would DVR most of those anyway and watch them a week later. Hulu through PlayOn was now my new DVR and the best part, I don’t have to program a thing.

Since then I’ve set up just about everyone I know with it. Regardless of if you drop cable or not it compliments it extremely well. My parents who are 50 now use PlayOn with their Wii and still have cable. My mother has to get her Dr.Phill fix.

We both agree its worth every penny. For a little more than a trip to the movies for two you can have PlayOn in your home and bring the movies to you. We give a big "Thank You" to PlayOn for making our lives easier and more affordable.

A valuable tip for new users: If you are having problems, make sure PlayOn is up to date on your PC. You can do this on the System Check tab of their software. Nearly every time we have encountered a problem it has been because we did not have the latest version of PlayOn. Due to the nature of their service frequent updates are necessary, so be sure to keep an eye on that.

Let me say first that I am not some tech wizard. I am a mom, an author, and I sometimes have trouble getting the laser printer to work. So, when I was looking for software to put my internet TV, that I've grown to love so much, on my living room television, I had to find something that even a squirrel could make work.

PlayOn was exactly what I was looking for. 

I first downloaded PlayOn when I was looking for a way to watch Hulu not on my computer. You see, I am quite obsessed with internet television because a) I suck at remembering to DVR my favorite shows and b) even when I do remember to DVR something, it almost always cuts off the last two minutes, and then I want to throw things at my television.

And I love my television. It would be rude to throw things at it.

I'd pretty much stopped watching television in the living room, and had resorted to watching internet streaming shows on my laptop or desktop with things like Hulu, and Netflix. The thing is, when you're watching a show on your computer monitor, you're probably watching it alone.

Where's the fun in that?

I did some reading, and everyone was talking about this great software I had to try that would stream all the stuff I was already watching on Hulu to my Playstation.

Hulu? On My Big TV? I was so in.

So, basically, all I had to do was go to the free trial page, download the software, and it showed up on my internet enabled PS3. I did it all myself, I didn't even have to ask my husband to help me get it to work.

Now we use the heck out of PlayOn, it live streams Netflix without me having to find that stupid DVD I'm supposed to put in my PS3 every stinkin' time I want to watch a show, and the interface is beautiful. It basically integrates right into my already awesome PS3 stuff, and I never have to worry about whether or not I remembered to move something around in my queue, record it on a DVR or anything else like that.

Hands down the best reason to use the PlayOn is the quality.

I have a 55 inch flat screen HD Television. That's a pretty big tv, and I was worried that when I streamed Hulu from my PC to my TV it would look like crap. It doesn't, it looks great.

You can barely tell the difference between streaming Hulu through PlayOn and watching DVR'd stuff on Dish Network.

So, if you're tired of sitting in front of your tiny computer monitor to watch television, then you should download the 14 day free trial from PlayOn. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
