Almost a Release Candidate

Hey testers! We just released PlayOn 2.58.3228, and it's got tons of cool new stuff. Some of the highlights are:

  • Hulu videos with higher resolution (480p)
  • Hulu user Queue support
  • Netflix improvements
  • A new PlayOn logo
  • ... and lots more goodies!

This release is for all practical purposes our first release candidate, even if not officially named as such. So, what does that mean? Well, we think it's good enough and stable enough to release to the general public, as a complete product. There are certainly plenty of interesting features that we consider make it a "real" product now.

But, this is not the end of the road for PlayOn, by any means. We are committed to adding new features, like Wii support, over the coming months. And those upcoming features will be available to all our testers and to those who have decided to purchase a license.

Stay tuned over the coming weeks and months as we continue to improve and expand PlayOn. We've got lots of product plans on our slate, and will try to keep everyone posted as we continue to develop and support our software.

Sorry you don't like the new logo! We don't have a way to make it configurable.

For what it's worth the old logo was cooler imo. Choice of logo would be a nice tweak for those who like to customize the look of their setups. If there is some other reason for the switch what would be interesting to hear about.

love the product!

Yes, we're working on making PlayOn compatible with Silverlight. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Wow, this is a great piece of software.

The only problem is that it doesn't appear to work with Netflix's Silverlight player (which I just opted into today about three hours before I found out about this software, otherwise I probably would have held off). Are there any plans to implement this functionality, or does the technology make Silverlight and PlayOn mutually exclusive?

You sure you upgraded to the latest version? The previous version had issues with truncating the Instant Queue. This should be fixed in the latest. If it's not, be sure to send a support request to our support team.

Wonderful news. Glad to see you guys are committed. Hope to see music/photo/video file access on my PC as exists in Windows Media Player 11 media sharing.

Also, seeing some issues in PlayOn/NetFlix. "username/password" error sometimes and also not all of my NetFlix Instant Watch queue was displaying last night. I have 28 in the queue and only 9 displayed.
